My Head is Stuck in this Honeypot - Screenplay:
PART ONE (the biggest part)
The Forest Gump Run.
Actors: Ian – (Forest Gump) jogging and singing (costume white shirt, tie, bracers, suit trousers, shoes – imagine the film ‘Falling Down’)
1,000 extras – joining in the running.
*Video version has a different song version (with bees buzzing at start and instrumental intro FOUR TIMES as long)
**Lyrics appear on screen**
Establishing shot. Ian standing in wilderness looking vacant / thoughtful, undecided. (Soundtrack (ST), bees buzzing (Ian’s inner confused thoughts))
(ST – intro starts (4x as long as single) at first Ian doesn’t move, but reacts as if he hears something (whether it’s external or in his head is unclear) after 4 bars, he starts to move, at first walking (2 bars) in time to the beat, then he picks up into a jog (2 bars)
Then he starts to sing. (looking into camera – close up shot)
“You might find a look in my eyes, this picture too hard to disguise, I can’t turn away.”
CUT SHOT – Ian lying on floor in same costume in running scenes, room is bare, low shot, Ian is just lying staring at the ceiling. (Text on screen bottom right ‘Ian Chapman #loser001)
Back to running:
“And you may find me standing too near, my imperfections perfectly clear,
I can’t turn away”
CUT SHOT – Ian on floor.
Back to Running
“And there is something inside of me, ticking like an atom bomb, like a Mr. Creosote, something that will blow me…."
CUT SHOT – Ian on floor
“…away….”
Back to running:
CHORUS:
“And you may find me knocking gently at your door, like a cheeky Ollie, asking can I have some more, please this potion, this happy drug emotion, stirring up a swarm of bees, my head is in this honeypot please. Can you help me out?”
“Ah, ah ah ah” – SHOT PANS back and two other joggers join from the sides.
Camera pulls back tracking 3 runners. (all runners mime to the singing (without words))
“And you could never get too close, your proximity is my antidote, to this four lettered sickness..”
CUT SHOT – runner (#loser002) lying on the floor “Ah……….”
Back to running: “And I find myself burning to say, something I think about every day, hope you don’t turn away,”
CUT SHOT – runner (#loser003) lying on the floor
Back to running – two more runners enter “And you may find me, knocking gently at your door, (2 runners enter) like a cheeky Ollie (2 runners enter) asking can I have some more, (2 runners enter) please this potion, (2 runners enter) this happy drug emotion, (2 runners enter) stirring up a bee storm, (2 runners enter) since you came nothing’s normal, (2 runners enter) in this life, (2 runners enter) wishing that you were my, (2 runners enter) I can’t say, (2 runners enter) hoping I don’t scare you away, (2 runners enter) my heart is beating like a kanga drum, (2 runners enter) not sure I can carry on, (2 runners enter) toying with this loaded gun.(all runners mime ‘gun’).”
“I really hope the safety’s on..” (all runners mime ‘Ahh’)
When the music stops – all runners stop (counted in by sub-director 1,2,3, STOP! – like a Sergeant Major) and they turn to look at each other as if it’s the first time they noticed that anyone else is running with them.
1 bar switching:
Runners start again on 1st beat of bar (with added determination) …“My….”
CUT SHOT – runner (#loser004) lying on the floor “head is.”
Runner shot: “stuck, in this”
CUT SHOT – runner (#loser005) lying on the floor “Honey-“
Runner Shot: “pot, my”
CUT SHOT – runner (#loser006) lying on the floor “head, is”
Runner shot: “Stuck, in this”
CUT SHOT – runner (#loser007) lying on the floor “Honey-“
Runner Shot: “-pot, my”
CUT SHOT – runner (#loser008) lying on the floor “head is.”
Runner shot: “stuck, in this”
CUT SHOT – runner (#loser009) lying on the floor “Honey-“
Runner Shot: “pot, my”
CUT SHOT – runner (#loser010) lying on the floor “head is.”
“stuck…………. EVERY BEAT a new #loser lying on the floor
19 beats.
First 2 bars new loser every beat
Next 1 bars new loser every half beat
Next 1 bar and 3 beats loser every quarter beat.
So #loser011 to #loser054
****ALL THE LOSER SHOTS WILL BE FILMED IN THE SAME LOCATION – we have a queue, they all line up in order – come in, lie down, Pius films, next and so on – like a conveyor belt.
Next four bars – shot of Ian slowly getting up off floor and as the 4 Tuba blasts ring out he looks directly into camera with a determination and steel of heart that would scare the shit out of Sauron himself.
THEN the CLIMAX 3’19”
Big shot of the 1,000 people all running together aerial drone shot until 3:50
Last part of song is everybody in the shoot embracing and laughing, being ecstatic – somebody pops and shakes up a bottle of Crémant. Like the reunion of the Hobbit at Rivendell.
